About this hike

Gjeravica is Kosovo's highest peak and one of the finest summits of the Accursed Mountains. The hike starts at Gropa e Erenikut above Junik and climbs steadily through mountain pastures towards the glacial Gjeravica lake.

After a break by the lake we continue towards the ridge. The final stretch crosses boulders and rock: it isn't technical, but it calls for sure footing and care. From the summit the view opens over the Accursed Mountains and the mountains of Albania.

Who it's for

Hikers with good fitness and experience of long days in the mountains. The weather changes fast at altitude, so we start early and adapt the plan to the conditions.

Best season: June to October.
